Ever wonder how to get your business to appear on Google Maps? Is your business not being associated through specific keywords, while your competitors are? Although your website may already appear on search engine results pages, this is still an added step you will want to include in your online marketing.

Today, having visibility online is more important than ever has been. If your business is part of a competitive industry, or your location has low visibility and/or walk-in traffic, you can bet that a good online presence is vital to your continued success. Google Places is available for all businesses, even if you don’t currently own a Website.

This process is very straightforward. Start the process by following this link, sign in with your Google ID and follow the easy steps to filling out information about your business. If you don’t have a Google ID, you will need to create one.

During the sign-up process, you are able to submit details about your business like products and/or services that you offer. This way your business will appear in a geographical location for specific keyword searches that relate to your business, for example, “web design kelowna”.

The Google Places service is completely free and takes almost no time at all. Once the process is complete, your business may appear on the Google Map through keyword searches that relate to products or services you are offering. You can customize your Google Places profile, by adding your logo, photos, your hours of operation, or even where to find nearby parking.

Even if you don’t have a bricks & mortar location, such as a mobile or home-based office, you can submit your listing to appear in certain locations as a “serviceable area”. Once you’ve completed the forms, Google will mail you a postcard with a verification code that you can then use to validate your address.
